We are seeking an experienced Estate Manager to lead our Black Hills Estate Winery team for a 12 month contract. Black Hills Estate Winery is situated on the scenic Black Sage Bench in Oliver, British Columbia and has been producing premium wine in this region since 1999. Known for the Nota Bene Bordeaux-inspired blend, our focus is precise vineyard management, minimal intervention in the winery, and world class wine experiences offered to the thousands of visitors we see annually.

What you Offer:

  • College/University graduate (preferably in business, tourism/hospitality)
  • 3-5 years' experience in the management of a luxury winery/hotel/restaurant business
  • Completed or working towards completion of WSET or ISG/CAPS or have CMS certification desirable
  • Solid knowledge and experience with P&L statements, managing capital projects, and business planning
  • A passion for wine, hospitality and guiding an experienced team to provide best-in-class service
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to multi-task while leading a team
  • A "Can Do" attitude and enjoy working in a busy seated tasting environment
  • Ability to be a brand ambassador; to be the "Host" of the Estate by creating a sophisticated yet welcoming environment
  • Knowledge of winery retail Point of Sale software (Wine Direct), Open Table, MS Office, MS Teams

This teammate will be responsible for:

  • Development of annual winery financial and wine volume plans (including revenue, expense and capital budgets); writing and executing business plans
  • Managing the delivery of exceptional on-site experiences and driving successful sales initiatives to grow revenues and sell wine club memberships, ensuring all activities support the brand, HR, quality, and financial benchmarks
  • Developing and executing sales plans that drive Estate awareness and visitation; plan and execute events (i.e. Nota Bene Release Party, Winemaker dinners, vertical tastings); manage guest house operation
  • Recruitment, training, coaching, performance management and motivation of all teammates
  • Making industry relations a priority by building and promoting a strong business environment for winery tourism; constant analysis of wine industry business trends
  • Attending company and industry meetings on behalf of the winery then communicating all relevant information to the team
  • Accounting control and ensuring that all reports are submitted on a timely basis; interpreting monthly P&L statements and responding to discoveries
  • Complying with Federal and Provincial regulations (VOA Standards, WorkSafeBC regulations etc.)
  • Ensuring the workplace is well maintained and safe at all times for teammates and guests
