VINTAGE WINEMAKERS & CELLAR HANDS
Road 13 Vineyards seeks motivated individuals to join our winemaking team for the upcoming northern hemisphere Vintage 2018.
We are a quality driven, ultra-premium winery located on the Golden Mile Bench in Oliver, British Columbia. Our product portfolio is one of the most awarded in the Okanagan wine region and we are one of the top, quality-focused wine producers in Canada. We concentrate mainly on Rhone varietals (Syrah, Grenache, Roussanne, Marsanne, Viognier) but also work with some amazing Bordeaux red grapes.
The winery is known for its popular blended wines, but we have also been focusing on making small batches of terroir-driven wines with great success. We crush about 450 tons of fruit per year and we harvest grapes from the South to the North of the Okanagan Valley. We also purchase grapes from select growers from the Similkameen Valley.
As part of our harvest team you will be exposed to all facets of grape processing and fermentation management. Internship will include, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities: punching down Small Batches Wine, pump overs, pressing reds with basket press, pressing whites with bladder press, barrel work, sampling vineyards, fermentation monitoring, some lab work, dragging hoses, draining tanks, transferring juice/wine, racking juice/wine, sanitizing tanks, hand-sorting fruit, crushing and howling with coyotes at night!
Candidates should possess: serious passion for wine, strong attention to detail, positive attitude, ability to work well with others, lots of energy and stamina to withstand long hours of manual labor for many days in a row.
Winery experience is necessary. Forklift skills a plus.
Positions generally begin in early September and run through November depending on the vintage. However, we do have openings for candidates that would like to start earlier (May or June, 2017, working though to November). Road 13 does not offer housing but will assist in the search.
For non-Canadian residents: A valid work visa will be necessary to secure a position.
Remuneration will depend on experience of the candidate.
