Tasting Room Manager (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Reporting to the Estate Director, the Tasting Room Manager is responsible for seamless guest experience at the Oliver winery. He/she will ensure that retail staff have the tools and directions necessary to be successful and will lead by example in providing guests with industry-leading hospitality. The Tasting Room Manager coordinates all aspects of the winery tasting rooms and is responsible for driving revenue, wine club membership, and enhancing the overall guest experience.  The Tasting Room Manager is also responsible for executing on-site winery events as well as private event sales, such as corporate events.  This is a hands-on selling position where the candidate will be highly skilled at sales and customer service and balancing the delivery of an exceptional experience for all guests with effective sales techniques.

 

Retail Management

·         Responsible for merchandising the tasting room

·         Manage day-to-day financial and accounting duties for the tasting room

·         Adhere to the established hospitality budget for the Winery

·         Provide regular reporting to Sales and Marketing Manager

·         Responsible for opening and closing duties

·         Ensure the tasting room has all necessary sales and marketing collateral

·         Ensure the tasting room is always in pristine condition

·         Ensure that PCE wine club membership sales goals are met

·         Assist in setting the annual Tasting Room budget, projected sales projected expenses, and participate in budget reviews

 

Staff Management

·         Manage all recruitment functions for hiring, orientation, training, development, supervision, and performance evaluation of all Tasting Room staff to deliver industry-leading hospitality and to meet PCE’s sales and marketing objectives

·         Develop staff schedules

·         Manage the retail team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring PCE’s rigid hospitality policies and procedures are met

·         Provide seasonal performance reviews

·         Coordinate guest experiences using reservation management software

·         Print, review and approve bi-weekly timecards, calculate staff incentives, and submit timecards and incentive information before payroll deadlines

 

 

Hospitality

·         Provide on-the-floor hospitality, ensuring that all guests have an exceptional experience

·         Handle guest complaints and/or escalations

·         Supervise and perform hospitality functions, which can include greeting visitors, providing tasting and wine education, and mentoring staff to deliver the highest standards of customer service.

·         Coordinate trade, wine club, large group, and other visits with other department managers to assure high-quality service and accommodation

 

Special Events

·         Plan and execute on-site winery events in coordination with the Estate Director

·         Field inquiries from potential and booked clients; provide tours to prospective clients

·         Negotiate pricing and create event quotes; close the sale

·         Create event itineraries and floor plans; coordinate with vendors

·         Supervise event from start to finish

·         Exceed private event sales targets

 

Inventory Management

·         Manage hospitality inventory on a daily and monthly basis in coordination with the accounting department

·         Ensure rigid loss prevention standards are met

 

Job Qualifications

·         Completion of WSET Level 3, or equivalent

·         Minimum of 3-5 years progressive wine industry experience, with retail supervisory experience

·         Experience with event management and private event sales

·         Proven people management skills

·         Demonstrated knowledge and expertise providing outstanding hospitality

·         Experience developing and adhering to a budget

·         Experience using Vin65 (or other comparable POS and e-commerce platforms)

·         Intermediate computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe programs

·         Knowledge of provincial liquor licensing and legal compliance issues related to the operation of a wine retail and tasting room.

·         Must have a clean and active driver’s license.

·         Must be serving it right certified

·         Capable of performing moderate physical activities including standing, walking, climbing, reaching, and carrying. Requires lifting and moving objects up to 40 lbs. in weight.


$70,000 Base Salary

10% Bonus
