Tractor & Equipment Operator (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented, and hard-working person to join our passionate and wine loving Vineyard & Winery team. The incumbent will work under the supervision of our Vineyard Manager & Winemaker, Jean-Marc Enixon, primarily in the vineyard, but also in other areas of the business, as required. Responsibilities include:

Vineyard 

  • Carefully execute tractor driving activities in the vineyard on a daily basis, including but not limited to: hedging, mowing, mulching, and spraying
  • Use tillage and fertilizer equipment 
  • Play a key role at harvest time in the vineyard, supporting the management of all seasonal workers when bringing in the fruit
  • Support pruning and other vineyard activities in the low-season

Safety & Maintenance

  • Keep all vineyard records, including but not limited to spray records, accurate and up to date
  • Act on Culmina's safety committee, attending regular meetings
  • Ensure safe operating procedures for vineyard and winery
  • Employ preventative strategies for maintenance and monitor all vineyard equipment for issues

General

  • Ensure that the 'housekeeping' of the vineyard and winery is consistent with that of an 'icon' estate
  • Optimize efficiencies and use of all resources (labour, equipment, materials)
  • Represent Culmina's values when working with third party suppliers

Requirements include: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of tractor driving experience
  • Up-to-date spray applicator certification is an asset
  • Experience carrying out maintenance on tractor and other equipment including oil and filter changes 
  • Excellent stamina, strength, and physical fitness
  • Working knowledge of grape growing techniques
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work within a compact team
  • Ability to work weekends and long hours when required
  • Good computer literacy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A strong work ethic, integrity, and reliability
  • Forklift ticket considered an asset
  • Ability to safely lift up to 25 kg
  • A current drivers license
