Now Hiring Harvest Interns for the 2022 Harvest. This position runs between September 15 through to December 23, 2022, with the potential to be extended through March 2023 for some.
About:
Wild Goose Winery (1983) was initially created by the Kruger Family with a vision to produce locally sourced cool climate reds and whites that best characteristise the South Okanagan. The production facility is located in OK Falls. The Vineyards are planted in Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, and Syrah and we work with many growers that produce a wide range of alternate varietals as well, to broaden our style.
The overriding philosophy of the winery is and has always been to use proven traditional winemaking methods to best express the terroir, in harmony with a traditional facility, careful scientific evaluation and a dedicated winemaking team. Sustainable practices and environmental initiatives are valued highly at Wild Goose. The owners participate actively to advance these causes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grape Processing: Grape and Juice Reception, Destemming, Crushing, and Pressing.
- Handling equipment, managing pumps, clamps, hoses, etc. typical of a medium estate winery.
- Handling standard winemaking chemicals.
- Learning and practicing our systems and commitment to quality
- Attention to detail and an ability to maintain an organized work space
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in appropriate science related discipline (Wine and viticulture preferred) programs.
- Dependable, and self-starting.
- Able to work long hours and irregular shifts including weekends and statutory holidays
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Able to lift 55lbs
- Eligible to work in Canada – (LMIA will not be approved)
- Knowledge of winery cellar operating procedures.
