Job Description
Church & State Wines features two distinctly different vineyard properties located in the Okanagan and on Vancouver Island. Sunocean Wineries and Estates Inc. DBA Church& State Wines is currently accepting applications for Bistro and Tasting Room Associate located in Victoria for the 2020 season. As Vancouver Island’s largest winery, Church & State Wines Brentwood is a must-see for visitors to the region. Pouring award-winning wines from both our Vancouver Island and Okanagan Estate vineyards, Church & State offers a unique experience to guests, just 15 minutes from Downtown Victoria.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a passion for wine, who is outgoing, enjoys meeting new people, is an effective and dynamic communicator, and can deliver excellent customer service. The ideal candidate has experience with wine sales and some formal wine education (ie WSET). Our ‘elevated experience’ model allows you to connect with the guest, have engaging conversations about our award-winning wines and help them in selecting their purchases and joining our Q Wine Club.
Job Description:
- Working in conjunction with the Operation Manager to create, implement and maintain of strategies to meet and exceed sales goals.
- Managing the tasting room schedule of appointments, conducting tasting room staff morning briefings, training new employees for all training manuals and scheduling proper shift breaks for all tasting room staff.
- Monitoring and assisting in reordering and restocking tasting room inventory, including but not limited to wine, provisions, collateral and reporting any deficiencies to the Operation Manager
- Assisting sales with DTC shipping and fulfillment needs as assigned including but not limited to packaging shipments, payment processing, etc.
- Creating a memorable experience for guests including greeting and hosting the tasting room and conducting winery tours for guests
- Hosting tastings with an emphasis on closing sales and attaining club membership and for maintain the tasting room 5-star cleanliness and appearance.
- Providing leadership, support and motivation to the tasting room staff to ensure the highest standards of hospitality and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- Exemplary customer service skills
- Solid wine knowledge – WSET considered an asset
- Good computer skills
- Professional attitude and a strong work ethic
- Holds a Serving it Right certificate.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Salary: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
