Bordertown is an award-winning winery located in Osoyoos. We are looking for an energetic, friendly Tasting Room Manager who can manage our Tasting Room and help us welcome the busy summer season.
Ideally, you have a hospitality background and are willing to work 5 days a week through the summer and fall (until October 31, 2018).
You are organized and have great communication skills, with a strong ability to prioritize and take initiative.
Wine knowledge is great but can be taught - more important is a great work ethic, hospitality focus and positive energy.
We promise this will be a fun season - position may last beyond October for the right person.
The Tasting Room Manager puts a face to our wine brand and provides the energy and enthusiasm for delivering an exceptional experience to all of our guests. Hands-on management of Bordertown’s tasting room staff and interaction with winery guests.
The Goal: To build wine shop sales and to up the customer experience level at the wine shop, increase email sign ups, increase wine club memberships and deliver memorable Bordertown events. You will also continue to increase Bordertown’s exposure in Osoyoos and the Okanagan.
Below, we have outlined the job duties which will include (but not be limited to):
- Providing an exemplary tasting room guest experience including hosting wine tastings, sharing knowledge regarding our story, philosophy, wines and vineyards.
- Improving the performance of tasting room team through ongoing coaching and training.
- Managing the day to day operations of the tasting room.
- Managing onboarding of staff and staff schedule.
- Developing innovative ways to drive sales and customer satisfaction.
- Developing positive relationships with customers and prospective customers.
- Coaching the wine shop team to success with an emphasis on achieving goals.
- Achieving sales and financial goals.
- Promoting tasting room sales, online sales and Bordertown events.
- Promoting the benefits of Bordertown’s Living Desert Wine Club by generating enthusiasm within staff to meet monthly and yearly wine club goals.
- Growing Wine Club membership by designing and implementing industry best practices, maximizing onsite conversions
- Tracking visitor traffic, wine sales, Wine Club signups and wine-related retail products.
- Taking a lead role in organizing special events hosted by Bordertown.
- Building positive relationships with community and industry partners such as Destination Osoyoos, Wines of British Columbia, Osoyoos Oliver Winery Association, hotels, and Tour Operators to drive traffic to the tasting room and create successful referral programs.
- Providing sales and customer service training, one-on-one coaching, and ongoing wine education.
- Managing inventory, stocking, merchandising, debit and credit card sales and cashout.
- Managing online wine fulfilment (shipping online orders and Wine Club orders) and arrange packaging and shipping for wine contest consolidation.
- Hosting private wine tastings and events for customers, trade, and other guests.
- Pouring and selling Bordertown wines at special events in the area as needed.
Passionate about the BC Wine Industry

Hours of work: 10 am to 6 pm (longer hours when necessary)
Days of week: Thursday- Monday
