Hainle Vineyards Estate Winery is one of the most historic wineries in the Okanagan. Locating in Peachland B.C., Hainle Vineyards Estate Winery is Canada's first icewine and organic wine producer.
Reporting into the Sales Manager, we are recruiting for Wineshop Supervisor.
POSITION OVERVIEW
You will be responsible for training/scheduling of retail sales team, ensuring janitorial tasks are completed on daily basis. You will be actively involved with online sales and our wine club program. You will participate in the creating/delivery of events. You will also need to with other related duties within the Team Environment to ensure the success in all areas.
OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule team hours, control labor costs and operating expenses to optimize the team’s success.
- Researches, develops, composes, coordinates and hosts trade visitor programs, ensuring the experience is “best in class” for each guest.
- Plans and executes large-scale, on property events including, but not limited to: private dinners, media tastings and special seasonal wine events.
- Handle the purchase of food for the winery events, and the wineshop snacks replenishment, as approved by the management.
- Collaborate with domestic sales to drive wine club and online sale growth.
- Address safety and employee performance issues promptly and appropriately - ensure employees are aware of and observe company policies & procedures.
- Responsible for daily data entries including inventory transfers, monthly staff purchases or complimentary bottle, tips report, promotion and tasting sheets.
- Daily cash reconciliation and ensure sufficient cash for change in the cash drawer.
- Manage inventory and replenishment of wine for store, packaging materials, collateral, etc.
- Handle and process “to be shipped away” wineshop orders and online orders. Ability to work independently with the shipment processing software.
- Maintain/ update the POS system.
LEADERSHIP RESPOSIBILITIES

- Mentor, coach, educate, and motivate the team so they can achieve their potential through regular communication and training.
- Ensure training tools (Tasting Room Manual) are up to date with duties, wines and definitions.
- Resolve employee issues.
- Create weekly work schedules.
HOSPITALITY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greeting customers promptly and courteously.
- Provide enjoyable tasting experience for customers.
- Maintain the sales area, ensuring it is well stocked and clean.
- Accurately performing daily wine inventory and money handling procedures.
- Promote the sale of wine and non-wine products sold in the tasting room.
- Describe win, winemaking techniques, winery history and provides general tourist information.
- Train & coach staffs.
- Professionally handle customer complaints with resolution.
- Décor of winery to reflect sales promotions/ holidays.
QUALIFICATION & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school, diploma or equivalent and/ or qualified experience required.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience. Experience in DTC (Direct to Customer) sales or Wine Club management is an asset.
- Candidate must possess a valid “Serving It Right” Certificate and the “Food Safety Certification”.
- Completion of WSET Level 2 or higher, or equivalent is an asset.
- Basic computer skill is required for data entry.
- Flexible schedule, able to work in the weekends and occasional holidays. Willingness to stay back in case overtime is required for a special evening event.
- Public speaking and wine hospitality experience. A proven communicator who excels at entertaining/educating groups of guests
- Strong interest and passion for developing expertise in wine and food.
- Experience with maintaining a professional demeanor that positively reflects on the company.
- Experience with effectively presenting brand and wine information and responding to questions from groups of clients, customers and the general public, ranging in size from 1-50 guests.
- Required to frequently talk, taste, smell, stand and walk. Must be able to stand for long hours.
- Required to frequently lift and move cases of product which weighs up to 40 pounds.
