The Tasting Room Manager will be a motivated and positive self-starter responsible for leading our tasting room staff on daily operational functions. Key responsibilities will focus on financial, promotional, and wine club targets while achieving all metrics of the Little Engine Tasting Room.
Core Responsibilities:
Recruit, hire and schedule all tasting room staff.
Provide leadership, direction and train staff to ensure a productive, efficient and positive work environment.
Educate staff on appropriate sales techniques and latest information regarding wines, new releases, product availability, awards and press reviews to ensure customer have an exceptional experience.
Assist in organizing and managing special winery events.
Execute customer and agent shipments for both the tasting room and offsite sales.
Function as a Brand Manager and resource for the public and industry regarding our viticulture, winemaking, and products.
Maintain and update POS and online store with current sku’s, production information, images and inventory.
Oversee cleaning duties and procedures in the daily running of the wine shop
Conduct tastings with customers at our Enthusiast tasting bar and Collectors patio.
Familiar with a winery POS and a willingness to learn a new one, Vinsuite
Delegate tasks to the tasting room team to ensure maximum performance.
Competencies and Requirements
Hospitality or Tourism diploma/ degree
WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) training up to level 2 or similar
Minimum of 2 years experience as a manager of a wine shop or restaurant
Serving it Right certificate
Strong computer Word and Excel skills
Organized, efficient and very detail oriented
Physically able to lift more than 50+/- Ibs. and able to physically work in an environment where you are standing/walking for several hours at a time.
During the peak tourist season the applicant is expected to work on the weekends and long weekends as part of their 5-day week
