Three Sisters Winery Job Description – Cellar Hand
Role
Under direction of the Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker, the Cellar Hand is responsible for performing general winery work that includes equipment sanitation, general winery cleaning, barrel sanitation, racking, wine movements, wine treatments,and blending of juice and wine while maintaining company quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
- Executes all winery safety protocols and standard operating procedures related to winemaking, cleaning, sanitation, equipment usage and operation, and facilities.
- Performs all cellar functions including but not limited to barrel work (sanitizing, filling, topping, racking, treating and maintenance), juice and wine movements, blending, filtration, finished wine additions, and tank transfers.
- Assists with crush operations including fruit receival, crush line processing, and press operations.
- Prepares additions to juice and wine including inoculations, nutrients, and fining agents.
- Assists with laboratory sampling.
- Assists with bottling line operations.
- Actively looks for and reports equipment or areas in the cellar that need cleaning, repair, or maintenance.
- Accurately completes cellar work records.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Previous experience in a similar position working in a production environment.
- Working knowledge of cellar equipment.
- Oral/Written Communication.
- Must be able to lift 55 pounds.
