Overview
Little Engine Wines is a family-owned winery based on the Naramata bench minutes from Penticton, BC. We are leaders in producing some of Canada’s most sought after, artisan produced wines.
As we continue to grow, we are in search of a Hospitality Manager who will oversee one of the most important components of our winery – the delivery of a gracious experience for all our members and guests.
It is expected that the successful applicant will be an active leader in not only their direct responsibilities, but all aspects of Little Engine, constantly searching for ways in which to improve overall winery operations. This position requires a passionate appreciation and respect for wine, guest service, the culinary arts as well as desire to educate and share this with our staff, members, and guests.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead for all hospitality operations responsible for refining all service standards, procedures, and offerings. Passionate about wine and food, providing excellent, personalized wine service and education to our members and guests.
Actively involved with our Direct-to-Consumer Manager and our wine club program
Actively involved with our Logistics Manager in back end fulfillment
Hospitality Operations
· Oversee all operations of the tasting room including staffing, orientation, training, motivating and creating an efficient, highly competent, personable service culture.
· Responsible for all logistics of the tasting room, including coordinating repairs maintaining and restocking supplies, inventorying and physical packing and restocking of wine.
· Constantly strive to introduce creative, new enhancements to the sequence of service and operational amenities.
· Personally respond to all member related inquiries, concerns and opportunities in a timely manner.
· Closely monitor the guest experience making adjustments and assisting whenever necessary.
· Assist and Coach the Concierge team with all aspects of appointments and bookings.
· Manage POS process and system so that the guest/member experience is efficient and accurate.
· Develop, implement, and manage an employee incentive program.
· Continually educate the service team on wine service, wines, vineyards, and winemaking.
· Lead tastings to evaluate and pair food items with wines in the best manner possible.
· Be actively involved in the sales and marketing of wines and memberships to tasting room visitors, members, and event guests.
· Develop and implement membership marketing programs and tactics that are utilized by the tasting room staff to ensure we are maximizing the opportunity to sign-up new members.
· Conduct daily staff “huddles” and education tastings on a regular basis
Skills & Education
· Independently motivated with excellent managerial and leadership skills in all essential job functions.
· Excellent business management skills and understanding Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel and winery POS software.
· Demonstrate the ability to analyze, evaluate and report on all components related to tasting and private room operations.
· Creative, strategic thinker who knows how to use marketing channels and personal communication to gain customer loyalty and new members.
· Advanced writing and communication skills with a polished, professional presentation.
· Self-motivated and willing to assume additional responsibilities.
· WSET 2 or intermediate wine knowledge and willingness to obtain
· 3+ years in a front facing hospitality role combined with experience in an administrative role and/or relevant education relating to hospitality, marketing or business
