Vineyard Manager/Viticulturalist
LA FRENZ is a boutique winery situated on the famous Naramata Bench in the central Okanagan, British Columbia (www.lafrenzwinery.com). The winery produces approximately 10,000 cases of ultra premium wine annually from 97% estate vineyards. We are looking to employ a hands-on Vineyard Manager responsible for 50 acres of premium quality vineyards over 6 vineyard sites.

Applicant Requirements
· A self starter with a strong work ethic is essential as well as a team-based mentality and an attitude to excel in the job.
· A proven history and experience in Viticulture/Vineyard Management. Tertiary qualifications preferred but not absolutely essential.
· Valid driver’s licence.
· Competent and capable in all farm equipment operations (mowing, spraying, pre-pruning, trimming, mulching and the ability to use a dual wheel truck and equipment trailer).
· Solid verbal and written communication skills in English. Spanish language skills are considered an asset.
· The ability to effectively lead and direct a small vineyard crew involved in manual operations
Key Responsibilities
· Ensures day-to-day tasks are carried out in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining quality standards
· Ongoing maintenance of farm machinery and coordinate larger repairs when required.
· Is responsible for all aspects of the vine life-cycle: pruning, vine training, bud and shoot thinning, leaf removal, hedging and harvest. This will be organized in collaboration with management and winemaker.
· Maintains open and constant communication with management and winemaker;
· Maintains detailed pest management, spray and production records.
· Responsible for all vineyard tasks including (but not limited to) agrichemical applications, pest and disease control, soil and yield management, vine nutrition, canopy management, irrigation and irrigation maintenance;
· Is able to work flexible hours throughout the season, based on growing and harvest time requirements.
· The ability to establish and work to budget requirements.
