We are looking for a full-time, hands-on vineyard manager/cellar worker responsible for 20+ acres across 3 locations.
Applicant Requirements
§ A self starter with a strong work ethic is essential as well as a team-based mentality and an attitude to excel in the job.
§ A proven history and experience in Viticulture/Vineyard Management.
§ Valid driver’s licence, and the ability to use one ton truck and equipment trailer for hauling tractors.
§ Competent and capable in all farm equipment operations: mowing, spraying, trimming, mulching.
§ Solid verbal and written communication skills in English. Spanish language skills are considered an asset.
§ The ability to effectively lead and direct a small vineyard crew involved in all operations
Key Responsibilities
§ Ensures day-to-day tasks are carried out in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining high quality standards
§ Ongoing maintenance of farm machinery and coordinate larger repairs when required.
§ Is responsible for all aspects of the vine life cycle including pruning, vine training, bud and shoot thinning, leaf removal, hedging and harvest. This will be organized in collaboration with the winemaker.
§ Maintains open and constant communication with the winemaker.
§ Maintains detailed pest management, spray, irrigation, production, and phenology records.
§ Responsible for all vineyard tasks including (but not limited to): applications required for pest and disease control, soil and yield management, vine nutrition, canopy management, irrigation, and irrigation maintenance.
§ Is able to work flexible hours throughout the season.
§ Work in the winery with the cellar team will be required. Some experience with cellar work would be beneficial. This is a well-rounded position helping from grape to wine.
§ Interaction with long time growers.
§ The ability to establish and work to budget requirements.
