Wine Club Manager (12 month maternity leave coverage) (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

Interested in working with a dynamic and professional team in an exciting winery environment? We are seeking someone to cover a Wine Club maternity leave for up to 1 year.  The Wine Club position is an integral part of the team that requires an energetic, hard working, passionate individual that thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position is part time in the office, and part time in the Tasting Room assisting with daily activities and Wine Club tastings.

Founded in 1993, Poplar Grove Winery is one of the original five wineries on the Naramata Bench. Tony and Barb Holler purchased the winery in 2007. Their sons, Chris, Andrew, Matthew, and Eric farm more than 140 acres of estate vineyards with care. The family is widely recognized for crafting their outstanding signature red blend The Legacy, as well as delicious Cabernet Franc and Merlot focused wines and an exceptional Pinot Gris. Duties include: 

  • Email correspondence
  • Database management
  • Club sign-ups
  • Phone calls
  • Assisting with the prep and shipment of Direct to Consumer order and subscription shipments
  • Educating and selling our award-winning portfolio of wines to consumers
  • Promoting and selling Wine Club memberships
  • Handling transactions as set by procedures
  • Organizing, scheduling, and conducting select tastings

 

Tasting room coverage and assistance for Club Member pickups and sales: 

  • Welcoming guests and providing them with an exceptional tasting experience.
  • Speaking knowledgeably about Poplar Grove vineyards, varietals, history, and products.
  • Working with the Tock reservation system and Wine Direct POS.
  • Keeping the Tasting Room clean and tidy.
  • Communicating professionally with your colleagues.

 

Additional Information:

  • 3 to 5-day work week
  • 6 to 8-hour shifts

Qualifications:

  • Over 19 years old
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Very organized with excellent time management skills and able to focus on details
  • Strong computer skills – good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficient in excel
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and function well in a team-oriented environment
  • Prior experience in hospitality and/or sales
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • WSET experience is an asset

 

Requirements:

  • Must be able to meet physical needs of the position; able to lift 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time
  • Comfortable working with Point-of-Sale systems and computers
  • Must be 19 years of age or older and have a Serving It Right certificate
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must be able to work weekends and evenings
