WINESHOP ASSOCIATE (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

We are looking for a talented and energetic person to join our Tasting Room team.

We have a WINESHOP ASSOCIATE position available beginning immediatley until end of October. Candidates must be available to work minimum 20-30 hours/week, weekends and holidays. There is possibility for additional hours if desired.


Hillside winery is located on the Naramata Bench, just minutes from Penticton BC. Established in 1989, we are one the oldest wineries in the region. We have a rich history and  long-standing reputation for providing  exceptional, award winning and unique wines.  We continue to offer our guests the ultimate Naramata Bench experience with terroir-driven wine, locally-inspired cuisine, and striking views of the bench and Lake Okanagan. We have a very warm & welcoming wineshop and pride ourselves on making the wine tasting experience fun and approachable. While the enviroment is laid-back, the success of our business lies in having a team dedicated to top-notch customer service and an unwavering commitment to be “on their toes” and to bring their “A” game at all times in a bustling and busy tasting room that is open 7 days a week.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Warmly greeting guests; providing them with an exceptional and memorable tasting experience tailored to guest’s knowledge level 
  • Pour and describe the wines; sharing information about our history and philosophy, as well as our vineyard and cellar practices that make our wines special 
  • Assisting customers with wine purchases
  • Assisting current wine club members, and enrolling new members
  • Stocking and merchandising shelves
  • Open and Closing duties
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of hospitality areas including the wineshop, grounds, and tasting areas.
  • Representing the winery at periodic off-site events/farmers markets
  • Assisting with preparing and shipping orders
  • Assisting with special events if required
  • Candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in hospitality, retail or sales is a bonus
  • WSET Certification or other wine education is an Asset
  • Experience with Vin65 an asset

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service skill
  • Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills
  • Basic knowledge of wine or a keen interest in wine
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Comfort with computers (for our basic point of sale software)
  • Serving it Right Certificate
  • At least 19 years of age 
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements of the job. These include but are not limited to: 1) lifting up to 50lbs while navigating stairs or equipment, 2) standing for extended periods of time
