Two Blokes Cider based in beautiful Port Perry, Ontario is seeking a talented and innovative individual who has an passion for cidermaking to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual studying brewing or winemaking as our cidery straddles the space between these two worlds.
Who are we? We’re an innovative queer-led, orchard-based cidery that also grow proper English and French cider apples. Our team is small, cohesive and no task is considered beneath anyone. Together, we strive to craft products that are grounded in traditional cidermaking and are unafraid to explore innovative processes and flavours from craft beer to kombucha. We present it all in a modern cidery that’s nestled within a working century farm, providing a one-of-a-kind visitor experience.
This position reports to the lead cidermakers (the Two Blokes) and includes the following responsibilities:
• All aspects of cidermaking (fermentation, racking, blending, bottling, kegging and cleaning);
• Local pick-ups and deliveries to licensees, warehouses and supplies;
• Assistance in the orchard;
• Perform CIPs;
• Assist with the development of development of standard operating procedures (SOPS);
• Assist with inventory tracking;
• Front-of-House assistance in the tasting room during peak hours (filling growlers, pouring pints, flights, etc);
• Willingness to participate in events or responsibilities to promote ciders or the company when the cellar is not requiring
your presence; and
• May be required to assist with farmers markets and special events.
Requirements:
• Interest in cidermaking and orchard production;
• Ability to communicate with customers and relay information clearly and with passion;
• Smart Serve certified or willing to obtain certification;
• Ability to stand/walk for up to 10 hours;
• Team player who is also able to think independently;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Flexible, able to work weekends and holidays;
• Physically fit and able to lift 30kgs;
• Class G-Drivers licence;
• Forklift experience / certification an asset; and
• Ability to work in the orchard on occasion (picking apples, cleaning up branches).
Additional Details:
• Pay $17.50 / hour;
• Expected term: 5 months (May - September);
• Expected weekly hours: 30+;
• Uniform shirts provided.
