Trail Estate is a boutique No-/Low-Intervention Winery in Prince Edward County, Ontario. We are fiercely independent in thought and process. Our portfolio is dynamic — nouveau, skin contact, carbonic, unfiltered and also with killer Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. All our ferments are wild. We have a filter, but haven't touched it in over 5 years (want one???).
We are a small team looking for those who have a hands-on "do whatever needs doing" attitude. Some days require long hours. That said, we keep hours sane as much as possible (to keep us sane) — just know there is no set schedule during harvest, and flexibility is required!
Short Term contract options:
- Full Harvest: ~2 months September to mid-November (no accom. provided) with possibility to extend, based on season.
- Part Harvest: 2-3 week stages (accom. provided)
Requirements for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Sampling, harvesting, lab analyses
Receiving and processing fruit
Cleaning and sanitizing equipment, bottling
Attention to detail and cleanliness are exceptionally important
Ability for follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to document and track results; record/communicate daily tasks/results via google docs, etc.
Be proactive; attention to detail, ability to organize and prioritize tasks
Qualifications:
Minimum 1-2 vintages crushpad experience
Technical Degree/Diploma in Winemaking or Oenology (preferred)
Ability to operate forklift and tractor (preferred)
First Aid (preferred)
Must be eligible to work in Canada and fluent in English (spoken and written)
Industry-specific references required
Ability to lift 50lbs+
