Trail Estate Winery, based in Prince Edward County, Ontario, is known for making lo-fi small-batch wines. Our style is low-intervention — wild ferment, unfiltered, no B.S. We’re relentless in pushing accepted norms and want to produce the most exciting and remarkable wines.
We are currently seeking candidates for a Retail Sales position(s). This role has potential to grow and develop within the business. The ideal candidate will have a client-service and sales focus with a can-do attitude, positive spirit and a love of low-intervention wine.
The successful candidate will assist in the winery’s day-to-day retail and customer service responsibilities in conjunction with management.
Core responsibilities include:
- Retail wine sales with a goal of robust sales growth year/year
- Assist with marketing materials/social campaigns/email campaigns
- Driving wine club recruitment
- Continuously deliver superior service for our Wine Club Members
- Assist in organizing wine club/wine launch events (when COVID permits)
- Occasional Cellar tours/tastings
- Manage bookings
- Assist in wine club shipments and online order fulfilment ensuring all logistics and payment are complete and timely
- Maintain exceptionally clean and orderly conditions within the wine bar/retail area, including shelf stocking, updating offerings, and organizing store merchandise
- Creating a warm, welcoming environment, ensuring that guests are provided with an educational and enjoyable visit
- Operation of POS systems
Prior experience should include:
- Minimum 1-2 years retail/sales/hospitality experience (preferably in the wine or restaurant industry)
- The ability to address customer issues and concerns in a professional and friendly manner
- Hands-on experience in a wine environment - Cellar, Tasting Room, or Vineyard or WSET 1/2/3 or equiv.
- Hands on hospitality/service experience
- Experience with cash management
Requirements:
- Must be articulate, professional and service-oriented
- Exhibit good people skills; be an ambassador
- A self-starter; reliable
- Obsessed with continual improvement
- Current on wine trends and wine processes
- Proficient computer skills (Office, google docs, etc)
- Ability to work well under direction, within a team and also independently
- Smart-serve certified
- Must have own/reliable transportation
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays, and/or Sundays and holidays. Usual shifts are ~6-7hrs.
- Knowledge of French is an asset, but not required
- Able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time
- Able to work in Canada
This is a seasonal position (April-November) but may evolve into year-round for the right candidate.
Ideal for hospitality worker(s) looking to add daytime shifts.
Compensation: base plus pooled tips.
