Winemaker (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

Sangreal Estate Vineyard is a family-owned vineyard and craft winery in Prince Edward County. This summer, our 9th growing season, we will open our doors to the public. All of our wines will be sold under the Morandin Wine label.

In time for our June opening, we are searching for a full-time winemaker who is passionate about wine, ambitious, and driven to grow with us. This individual has strong communication, planning, and organizational skills. They have the ability to produce high quality VQA wine.

Key Tasks:

  • Manage vineyard and cellar budget
  • Oversee vineyard operations and IPM
  • Plan and lead harvest
  • Plan and lead cellar work
  • Plan and lead bottling
  • Assist with sales

 

Team:

  • Report to winery owner
  • Communicate regularly with production consultant
  • Oversee vineyard crew

 

Specific Requirements Include:

  • Degree or diploma in oenology
  • Cellar experience with including harvest, lab, barrel program, bottling and record keeping
  • Sound knowledge of chemistry and winemaking principles
  • Efficient understanding of spreadsheets
  • Able to work closely with others
  • Able to follow direction and work independently
  • Able to interact with the general public
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Available May or June 2018
  • Allowed to work in Canada

For our opening, we are offering three estate grown wines from our five acre vineyard: chardonnay, pinot gris, and pinot noir. We are also offering syrah and merlot sourced in Ontario.

Competitive compensation will be based on education and experience. Our winemaker will share in Sangreal's success as we grow from 500 cases/yr to 2,000 cases/yr.
