Sangreal Estate Vineyard is a family-owned vineyard and craft winery in Prince Edward County. Last year, we celebrated our 10 year anniversary for the vineyard and 1 year anniversary for the winery, after opening to the public in August 2018. All of our wines are sold under the Morandin Wines label.

This year, we will be releasing three estate grown wines from our five acre vineyard: pinot noir, pinot gris and chardonnay, along with six different varietals sourced from other local vineyards. Our wines have received rave reviews and awards, and can be found on the wine list at many popular restaurants.

We are searching for a full-time winemaker and vineyard manager, or assistant winemaker, who is passionate about wine, ambitious and driven to grow with us. This individual has strong communication, planning and organizational skills. He or she has the ability to produce high quality VQA wines. The right individual for this job understands that no responsibility is too small for the success of the business.

Key tasks:

  • Manage vineyard and cellar
  • Assist in producing and managing budget
  • Oversee vineyard operations and IPM
  • Plan and lead harvest
  • Plan and lead cellar work
  • Plan and lead bottling
  • Assist with sales and events

Team:

  • Report to winery and vineyard owner
  • Communicate regularly with product consultant
  • Oversee vineyard workers

Specific requirements include:

  • Degree or diploma in oenology
  • Cellar experience including harvest, lab, barrel program, bottling and record keeping
  • Sound knowledge of chemistry and winemaking principles
  • Efficient understanding of spreadsheets
  • Able to work closely with others
  • Ability to follow direction and work independently
  • Able to interact with the general public, tour groups, licensees and sommeliers
  • Available April or May 2020
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Allowed to work in Canada

 

 

Competitive compensation will be based on education and experience. Our winemaker will share in Morandin Wines success as we grow from selling 500 cases per year to 2,000 cases per year.
