Assistant Wine Maker Enthusiast:

Northern Lights Estate Winery is the Northernmost Winery located in Prince George. NLEW produces high quality fruit wines that are leading the industry and attracting a focussed audience of Millennial and young Gen X wine consumers. Since it’s opening in 2015, NLEW as won multiple awards at The Best of BC Varietal Awards and All Canadian Wine championships for the fruit wine category. The cellar has been producing 3,500 cases during its first year to 10,000 cases planned for 2022. The projection is to double its production in the next five years.

 

Northern Lights Estate Winery (NLEW) is currently searching for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented individual to join our Wine making team. The Assistant Wine Maker is integral to the day-to-day operation of the fast-growing winery and will perform a wide range of tasks.

 

This is a year-round, full-time position would start in December 2021.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

§  Manage wine making schedule

§  Fruit Processing: Handle fruit/juice deliveries, fill tanks

§  Perform routine operation of pumps and filters to rack, transfer, and filter wine

§  Fermentation Management: Inoculations, perform chemical additions, nutrient additions, sampling, punch downs, sugar

§  Collect wine/juice samples and general support for the laboratory

§  Responsible for sanitation in all areas of cellar operation.

§  Supervise bottling crew and take part of bottling line

§  Maintain a safe, clean and healthful work environment at all times 

§  Assist in shipping and receiving of goods and wine

§  Assist with cellar inventory

§  Report to the Director of Operation

 

 

Job Requirements: 

·      A passion for wine and at least two years of cellar experience

·      Strong commitment to quality with attention to details

·      Candidate must be hands on, dependable, and have scrupulous record keeping.

·      Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time

·      Good problem-solving abilities along with logistic skills required.

·      Ability to understand and perform mathematic calculations.

·      Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

·      Maintain an organized work place.

·      Ability to lift 50 lbs. This position is physically demanding.
