Executive Director (Wine Jobs: Management & Administration)

The Ontario Craft Cider Association (OCCA) is seeking proposals for a Part Time Executive Director working independently or within a related pre-existing association. 

 

The Executive Director for the OCCA will be responsible for spearheading the direction of the Association.  He/she will be a detail-oriented self-starter who is able to multi-task.  Communication skills, both verbal and written, must be exceptional.  The Executive Director will be comfortable dealing with various levels of government, LCBO, media, and the Association’s diverse membership.  The Executive Director will take instructions and act on requests from the Association’s Board of Directors.  The Executive Director will work from his/her own office.

 

Alternatively, the OCCA is seeking to partner with an existing organization already carrying our work in a related industry who has a vested interest in the success of Ontario Craft Cider domestically and internationally.  The existing organization will have available capacity and understanding to provide the specific responsibilities outlined for the Executive Director for the OCCA and will work in good faith within the allotted budget to further the goals of the OCCA.

 

 

Specific Responsibilities

· Preparation of position papers on various subjects for presentation to governmental, and Grocery including all facets of research, writing and production.

·  Presenting the Association’s position on a pro-active basis to the government, AGCO, Grocery and the LCBO.

· Operating the Association’s virtual office including the following:

·         Responding to queries from the membership via phone, e-mail or in-person visits

·         Responding to media queries and acting as the Association’s spokesperson

·         Scheduling Board and Committee meetings

·         Production and distribution of membership meeting minutes

·         Managing membership and sponsor member lists/directories

·         Managing tasks directed from the board and committees

·         Communication to members of up-coming events

·         Co-ordinating the Association’s membership lists, including the updating and maintenance of the website

·         managing and coordinating OCCA Social Media

·         managing OCCA special projects such as craft cider pack and Ontario Craft Cider Month.

·         Financial Management and Reporting: management and collection of membership dues and maintenance of financial statements alongside the OCCA Treasurer.  Management of the budget and outgoing costs. 

 

·  Liaison with other trade partners including, Apple Growers of Ontario, Grape Growers Ontario, Ontario Craft Wineries, , Ontario Craft Distillers Association, Ontario Craft Brewers, Wine Growers Ontario, Drinks Ontario, restaurant associations and trade commissions to seek common ground on key issues.

· Preparation and distribution of press releases on key issues or news regarding Ontario Craft Cider.

· Preparation and distribution of a regular newsletter to membership, as well as other communications on an “as needed” basis.

· Increasing the visibility of the Association in the marketplace through increased media awareness and new initiatives by continually seeking opportunities to further Ontario Craft Cider in the marketplace.

· Retaining existing members and encouraging new members to join the OCCA.

· Representing OCCA membership on various industry committees and at trade meetings.

· Working with OCCA committees and their chairs

· Developing and nurturing relationships with key government, LCBO, Grocery and AGCO personnel.

Desired Skills and Experience

·         Detail-oriented self-starter.  Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

·         Solid written and verbal communication skills.

·         Existing relationships with key government contacts, LCBO, AGCO staff and other government agencies.

·         Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and some web development skills.

·         Networking skills with government and its agencies.

·         Professional and persuasive with various audiences including government, LCBO, Grocery, AGCO and media through written and verbal communications.

·         A consensus builder.  Able to win people over to our side.

·         Flexibility in moving from one project to another.

·         Quick thinking and informed about industry issues.
