With 14.5 acres of beautiful grape vines Rockway achieves a variety that allows us to craft award winning bottles of wine.

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Cellarmaster to join our team. This individual must a have a hands-on approach and a positive attitude.

Winery production work will be the focus, with viticulture work when/ if needed.

 

Requirements for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Experience for day-to-day cellar and laboratory operations is required

- Strong communication skills and attention to detail

- Must be able to run a crush pad, receiving grapes, pressing, destemming/crushing, cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining equipment

- Must be proficient in cellar tasks such as tank/barrel cleaning and sanitizing, punch downs and pump overs, monitoring ferments, racking and transfers, wine additions, barrel work, blending, fining, filtering, and bottling

- Must be able to assist in oversight of wine in tanks and barrel

- Must have experience in monitoring grapes, grape sampling and lab analysis for maturity and harvesting

- Wine tracking through our Winery Software system

 

Qualifications:

- Post-secondary education: diploma or degree in winemaking or viticulture

- Minimum 2 vintages of prior winery and vineyard experience

- Ability work well as part of the team or individually

- Must have a cooperative attitude and be flexible to changes and fluxuating work hours

- Willingness to expand knowledge base and practices and participate in vine and wine trials

- Willingness to represent the winery at offsite or online events

- Must be prepared to work in all types of weather and temperatures in Southern Ontario

- Must be able to do physical labour and lift 25 KG

- Forklift/ Tow motor experience/ certification

- Valid driver’s license is required

- Must be eligible to work in Canada
