Overview
Reporting to the Senior Winemaker, this position is both an oversight role and will require hands-on cellar work to help support cellar crew when needed. This position requires a solid foundation and discipline in wine chemistry, soil science, and winery equipment and must be experienced in cellar practices. The successful candidate will be one who would like to gain further knowledge of the wine industry through hands-on experience and help further develop our quality assurance program in our winemaking department.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assists with record keeping of grape receiving, curhsing, additions and various aspects of wine production.
- Assists cellar staff in performing cellar duties when required.
- Runs full analysis on juice and wine samples required by the winemaker.
- Maintains laboratory and cellar logs.
- Communicates and clarifies questions regarding winemaking protocols when winemaker is offsite.
- Prioritizes and communicates work orders generated by winemaker with staff when required.
- Sets up laboratory trials and tastings requested by winemaker.
- Manages bulk wine and ingredients inventory.
- Assists in vineyard sampling as needed; assesses maturity and records field observations.
- Works with Senior Winemaker to implement new cellar manual, lab manual, health and safety manual.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational & Experience Requirements
- B.Sc. in Oenology & Viticulture or related program (or in the process of obtaining) preferred.
- Previous wine lab or harvest experience and familiarity with winemaking practices required.
- Valid G class driver’s license required.
- Forklift Operator Certificate is considered an asset.

- Physical: Able to operate winemaking equipment, work outdoors and indoors in hot and cold climates and occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Schedule
· Available to work daytime, evenings, weekdays, weekends and holidays as required.
- Long hours and overtime as required.
