Winery Experience and Events Manager
About Us
Ridge Road Estate Winery is a small cottage winery that is situated on a 60 acre historical property that has been family owned since 1875. The winery is located on the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, overlooking Lake Ontario and the Toronto skyline. We are the most westerly winery in the Niagara Region and first on the wine route if you are traveling from Toronto and Hamilton. We offer guests both indoor and outdoor seating on our busy wine patio and event barn.
The Position
Ridge Road Winery is looking for a full-time Winery Experience and Events Manager who will deliver on and continue to elevate the customer service and experience we strive for at the winery. We pride ourselves on offering a “down to earth”, comfortable, relaxed and friendly environment. The “Manager” will build a strong and memorable experience by delivering beyond-expectation guest services and passionately articulating the winery story. They will lead by example, demonstrating great attitude, high energy and ability to remain this way in busy times. They will need to be highly adaptable, able to solve problems on the go and demonstrate leadership.
Key Duties:
1. Manage wine bar, tasting room and retail operations including POS, monthly inventory, scheduling and staff oversight and guest inquiries/reservations while providing outstanding service to our guests
2. Manage event bookings for the winery from start to finish
3. Contribute to the preparation and implementation of social media and marketing campaigns utilizing online and design software
Winery Bar and Retail Management
· Greet guests warmly and provide memorable experiences
· Oversee, supervise and schedule tasting room associates
· Must be able to serve customers on a large, busy outdoor wine patio for extended periods of time
· Generate sales through enthusiastic representation of wines and the history of our unique property
· Perform sales transactions using POS Systems
· Prepare the tasting room for opening and closing daily such that the tasting room and outdoor areas are set up, clean and ready to receive guests
· Represents the winery and brand, professionally, graciously and enthusiastically
· Prepare and serve light “patio fare” (i.e charcuterie boards, picnic baskets and cheese plates) as required
· Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, utilize a dolly cart, and assist in moving heavy objects (i.e. outdoor furniture)
· Track and manage tasting room and “patio fare” inventory
Events Management
· Liaise with clients and suppliers/caterers
· Develop strong customer relationships through appropriate client communication both written and verbal
· Prompt follow up on inquiries by email or phone
· Complete client contracts and manage client accounts including invoicing
· Planning and executing events from booking to completion
· Organize all client meetings and consultations prior to event date
· Available to work weekends and evenings as required (especially “on season” i.e late spring to fall)
· Able to troubleshoot any issue on the spot
Marketing
· Continue upgrading design, build and maintenance of our social media presence
· Work with the owner to design new campaigns and events for the winery
· Identify trends and insights, and propose new ideas for continued enhancement of our customer experience
Skills and Experience for the Job
· Accomplished at wine service and knowledgeable about wine and the wine industry
· Experience managing and executing service in a tasting room, food service and retail environment
· Smart Serve is a must and Food Handler certificate is a plus
· Proficiency with software and online social media technologies
· Event management experience
· Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and mentor others
· Passion for customer service
· Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
· Must be able to work weekends
· Access to personal transportation (there is no public transit in the area)
