Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards is located on the shores of Okanagan Lake, halfway between Summerland and Peachland. The winery was reconstructed in 2016 and the vines range from 3 to 25 years old. We are currently in the conversion process from conventional to organic farming and implementing sustainable practices throughout the company. Family owned with a small and excellent team of people from the vineyard, winery, wineshop and bistro. We produce wine grown on site at Greata Ranch and a selection of out-sourced fruit from southern vineyards. We are mainly a sparkling house, however, produce quality still wines also.
We are looking for an assistant winemaker to join the team. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in all aspects of winemaking, viticulture, and organics. Winemaking experience is essential. This role includes a wide range of cellar and vineyard duties that will require a variety of skills. Tasks will include all aspects of winemaking from fruit receival through to bottling, including all ongoing sparkling production throughout the year. The roll will also include pruning and vine management.
The successful applicant will be someone that is quality minded, hard working with great attention to detail. Has the ability to execute the day to day cellar work with minimal supervision, make decisions and take lead and supervise staff where necessary.
Job Requirements:
Responsible for the day to day care of all winemaking activities including harvest grape receival and crush pad operations
Responsible for training and oversight of cellar employees
Responsible for a high level of winery building and equipment hygiene and cleanliness
Vineyard management tasks when required
Assist in shipping, receiving and inventory
Participate in wine tastings to evaluate blends and achieve wine style and quality
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a car.
Excellent forklift skills.
Cellar experience is essential
Strong commitment to quality control with attention to detail
Good problem-solving skills
Ability to work long hours when required, including nights and weekends
Remuneration based on experience. You must be legally able to work in Canada at the time of application.
