General Description of Duties:
Under the general direction of their supervisor, the Seasonal Cellar Worker performs a variety of work assignments including processing racking, pumping, and blending of juice and wine. Must be able to operate equipment with moving parts. Assignments require work of a physical nature.
This position requires no previous experience in a winery cellar we will train you before the start of harvest.
Specific Duties:
- Cleaning, sanitizing and sterilizing all winery equipment and facilities.
- Racking and pumping of juice and wine; moving hoses and equipment.
- Making chemical additions to juice and wine; moving hoses and equipment.
- Safe operation of a forklift.
- Filling, topping and racking barrels.
- Fining and filtering juice and wine.
- Operating crusher, press, pumps.
- Following and observing all safe cellar practices.
Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
With appropriate experience and positive reference(s) this position starts at $17 per hour
Background and experience
The ability to communicate effectively with good skills in reading, writing and basic math is required. Must be able to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules and procedures, and be able to read cellar work orders, count barrels, record times and dates. Individuals selected for this position must be reliable, punctual and have a good work ethic. Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime and varying shifts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS- CELLAR WORKER
This position requires continuous walking, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling throughout the shift for cleaning, sanitizing and sterilizing all winery equipment and facilities. It requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, and to lift up to 50 pounds for racking and pumping of juice and wine; moving hoses and equipment and to operate crush pad equipment. It occasionally includes enclosed spaces, heights, and wearing PPE to make chemical and nutrient additions to juice and wine.
