We are seeking for an outstanding person to join our team in the position of Tasting Room/ Wine Club Manager!
About us:
8th Generation Vineyard is a family owned winery where our wines tell the story of our generations of wine making history. We have built a reputation in the valley not only from the quality of our product but also the customer experience that we provide to each guest.
We are a small team with both owners being involved in the daily operations of the winery, which makes the collaboration aspect of the winery team a high priority.
The Tasting Room & Wine Club Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the tasting room and guest experience. This is a hands-on position where you will be working with the tasting room team daily and be expected to set an exemplary example. The Manager will oversee tasting room associates, work in administration and shipping.
Excellent customer service skills are a must and a passion for wine and the industry is vital to this key role.
The responsibilities include but not limited to:
° Work Thursday- Monday 10-5 each week
° Maintain a working knowledge of tasting room POS, all products, and procedures
° Assist with recruitment. Training, lead, and coach up to 5 staff members.
° Organize and set up each shift for success.
° Daily opening and closing of the tasting room - ensuring a warm, inviting, and professional environment. Contribute to daily cleaning.
° Maintain Covid protocol and a spotless tasting room both inside and outside
° Ensure the latest safety policies and procedures are met and followed by all guests & team members
° Assume responsibility for the tasting rooms overall operation.
° Answering phone calls & e-mail in a friendly and efficient manner
° Communicate (phone and/or e-mail) with tour operators, members, non-members for bookings
° Key Contributor to maintain and improve an exceptional level of customer experience, all the time. Encourage a positive environment of inclusivity and support.
° Meet with and support other departments when needed
° Wine Club duties – membership retention, call, e-mail, process orders using WineDirect and shipping software. Be part of the wine club packing crew 2 times/year.
° Responding to and resolving customer inquiries/complaints
° Merchandising of product and seasonal décor displays
The ideal candidate will be a natural leader, have high attention to detail, be able to adapt to various tasks in a fast-paced environment, able to multitask, take initiative and be decisive in different situations. Above all else, have a positive and approachable attitude for guests and staff alike.
Requirements and Skills:
° Leadership, coaching and effective time management skills
° Full drivers license and transportation to and from work
° Prior hospitality, retail, wine or tasting room experience in a leader ship role
° Working knowledge of Wine Direct. TOCK, Excel, Outlook is an asset
° Advanced wine knowledge, WSET 2 or recent graduate of a hospitality program is an asset
° Ability to lift 40 lbs and conduct tastings in the garden/ lounge area.
° Exceptional and professional customer service skills and appearance
° Highly detail oriented, dependable and punctual
° Strong conflict resolution skills
° Self motivated and can work independently
° A passion for wine and educating others on it
° Clear, concise, and direct communication skills.
° Neat handwriting skills
° Serving It Right Certificate and Food Safe
Salary: $23 + per hour/ based on experience (plus gratuities)
Additional pay: Tips, discount on shop items, Health benefits after 6 months
Schedule: 7 hour
