Tasting Room Associate - Sumac Ridge Estate Winery (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Job Description:

The first estate winery in British Columbia, Sumac Ridge is proud of its almost 40-year history and has been dedicated to producing wine from 100% BC grown grapes since its inception, setting the standard with high quality wines.

We are currently recruiting ambitious team players to join us for the upcoming season. We are looking for a bubbly, energetic, customer service driven individual to welcome our guests and provide a fun, interesting and educational experience at Sumac Ridge Estate Winery.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Greeting and Engaging all Guests
  • Presenting Wine - Conducting tastings, suggesting food pairings, general wine education
  • POS system use and cash outs
  • Confirming sales with a thank-you and an invitation to return
  • Conducting tours and leading winery experiences where applicable and as qualified
  • Stocking wine and retail items
  • Answering phones and directing guests appropriately
  • Set-up and tear down for tasting events and special event programs (on and off-site)
  • Kitchen duties as needed (assist with dish washing, glass polishing, minor food preparation as necessary)
  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements:

  • Proven Sales and Customer Service Experience
  • Passionate about Wine and Customer Experiences
  • Courteous and friendly with a positive team attitude
  • Detail orientated with a strong work ethic and ability to multitask
  • Willing to continually expand knowledge of wine making process and the wine industry as a whole
  • Serving it Right Certification
  • WSET Certification an Asset
  • Flexible working schedule - must have ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
  • Physically able to lift 40lbs; stand for long periods of time; climb stairs

Additional Skills considered an Asset:

  • First Aid Certification
  • Food Safe Certification
  • Second Language
