ROLE OVERVIEW
Reporting directly to the Trade Marketing Manager, this position will be responsible for supporting the Trade Marketing Manager is the management of our owned brands and will also be assigned some third party brands. The key tasks will include developing and executing trade marketing plans, managing trade marketing budgets, filing program applications and new product submissions/ tenders with the liquor boards, overseeing execution and implementation of local marketing programs, and providing post-program analysis of effectiveness and efficiency of programs.
Also, the candidate will work with point-of-sale and fulfillment suppliers on such tasks as gathering quotes, submitting orders for print, and coordinating shipping and receiving of POS material. Additionally, this person will be responsible for maintaining various monthly business reports and trackers across all brands.
The candidate will have exposure to and opportunities to participate in annual brand planning, meetings with strategic partners, and the planning and coordination of both consumer and trade marketing programs across all provinces.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Updating pricing trackers
§ Preparing and disseminating monthly sales reports
§ Ordering, shipping and/or delivering product samples as required
§ Maintaining product specifications sheets for product portfolio
§ Assisting in development and procurement of trade POS material
§ Working closely with sales and marketing team across all provinces to collect market insights and report on competitor activity
§ Assisting in developing sales and marketing presentations for internal and external audiences
PRODUCT LISTING SUBMISSIONS:
§ Set up application calendar for submission for Wines, Spirits and Special Markets categories for all provinces
§ Advise key stakeholders (Roust President, Marketing Director, Manager and Suppliers) on tender criteria and gain alignment on products to be submitted.
§ Complete all steps required for submission process in accordance with the submission deadlines including: Pre-submission, Product Purchase and Marketing Plan Applications; sample ordering; pricing analysis; label and carton submissions; gathering of supporting data.
§ Develop presentations for Liquor Board meetings.
§ Follow up for P.O. generation by the Liquor Boards
§ Notify key stakeholders on listing decisions and maintain list of all products that have been submitted and their status (pending, accepted or rejected) on shared drive and send out monthly reports
TRADE PROGRAMMING:
§ Set up application calendar for submission of programs for all provinces
§ Work with key stakeholders to set an annual trade marketing budget and develop proposed programming calendar by SKU by province during the annual business planning process
§ Update programing calendar each month with actuals
§ Complete program applications per the deadlines and per our requirements
§ Provide a monthly and quarterly list of approved programming to stakeholders
ANNUAL BUSINESS PLANNING:
§ Assist President and Trade Marketing Manager and Director in preparation of annual business plan through gathering of materials and data for the plan, performing analysis, and completing other tasks as warranted.
THIRD PARTY REPORTING:
§ Maintain open and frequent communication with suppliers’ representatives
§ Provide regular reports to suppliers on their brands’ performance in the market. This includes:
o Depletion growth by province
o Listing status
o Programming application status
o Pricing
o Listing status
o Latest programming calendar
o Spend vs. budget and any adjustments required
o Competitive activity
o Key learnings/takeaways
BUDGET:
§ Manage brands’ trade marketing (on premise and retail) budget for all provinces. Perform monthly reconciliation to track budget vs. plan and adjust future plans, as necessary, when overages / underage’s occur.
§ Assist Finance in processing and coding all spend on assigned brands.
OTHER:
§ Work closely with Roust supply chain team and provincial managers to monitor orders processing and shipping and provincial inventory
§ Disseminate key marketing information (press hits, media plans, etc.) to the sales team.
§ Ensure sales team has access to relevant assets to execute local sales initiatives
REQUIREMENTS:
§ 2 to 3 years’ experience in beverage alcohol industry for leading supplier or agency across multiple brands and regions
§ Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or similar discipline
§ Aptitude in Microsoft Office (Excel, PP, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
§ Excellent communication skills
§ Excellent quantitative analysis skills
