We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) to successfully deliver the regional strategic plan for the North American markets.

Working autonomously in the region the BDM will own and execute best-in-class business plans, develop key commercial relationships, and achieve key commercial metrics. The BDM will work collaboratively and cross functionally with the AVL global marketing teams.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer UK, Europe & Americas, your primary duties will include;

  • Lead, implement and deliver the annual Business Plans with our key partners, consistent with achieving our Strategic Plan objectives
  • Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer on the development and evolution of the long-term Strategic Plan for the region
  • Achieve budgeted Revenue, Profit and EBIT contribution
  • Manage all accounts directly, and foster excellent, pro-active working relationships at all levels with our Key customers
  • Grow distribution in existing and new customers, consistent with growing our share in all markets. Develop and execute plans to increase sales of existing SKUs, led by market and customer insights
  • Work with Marketing to achieve the best possible brand and product strategies that can be effectively executed across the North American markets, working closely with importer and distributor partners
  • Conduct a weekly meeting with the Chief Operating Officer to review and prioritize current trading issues and initiatives. Prepare monthly status reports
  • Ensure timely review and submission of weekly and monthly forecasts to ensure we achieve target service levels with balanced stockholding in line with budget
  • Drive the profile of AVL with national and regional importer and distributor sales teams, resulting in a clear knowledge of the relevant AVL portfolio

Who we are looking for?

The successful applicant is comfortable working closely with multiple stakeholders but is also confident addressing groups.
  • A strategic thinker: We are looking for someone with the ability to deliver ideas and strategies that will ensure we achieve our big goals for the region. This person knows how to drive commercial success from conception to execution. 
  • A pro-active doer: As this is standalone role in the region, we are looking for someone who can act with a high level of autonomy, enjoys rolling up their sleeves and proactively identifying and seizing new opportunities. 
  • Tenured FMCG/Liquor experience: We are looking for someone with local North America experience and at least 10 years in managing FMCG and/or Liquor at a senior level. 
  • An experienced Account Manager: The successful candidate will have a strong history of National Account Management with at least 5 years managing multiple large-scale customers.
