Position Summary

This position is responsible to represent, and increase the sales of all Wente Family Estates (WFE) brands in the country of Canada.  Responsible for day-to-day management of importers/distributors, building relationships with key Liquor Control Board contacts, on and off premise accounts and retailers and planning the business (including annual operating plans, monthly projections, marketing support and programs).  Opportunities and expectations in areas of allocations, depletions, marketing programs and product placement. 

Essential Functions

Develops annual operating plans to maximize potential of WFE brands.

Communicates information and education on WFE programs, strategies and brand standard to importer/distributor sales teams in order to achieve plan targets.

Establishes sales presence in the market by conducting regular work visits and sales calls in conjunction with market partners; set expectations with importer/distributor and lead in the development of WFE wines in the market.

Develop, cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key buyers and market partners. 

Uses internal and external resources to capitalize on market opportunity. Utilize WFE tools to understand brand health and needs; develop action plans for business opportunities.

Conducts monthly sales analysis and post-promotional analysis for key programs.  Ensure required reports (Monthly recaps, T&E, etc.) are turned in timely and accurately.

Monitors spending budget to plan, inventory and allocations as required.

Provides feedback on market issues, opportunities, changes, gaps, challenges and competitive activity.

Maintains ample knowledge of products, wine industry, competitive landscape, customer issues and needs.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications and maintaining professional networks as appropriate.

Physical Demands/Qualifications

a. Must have sufficient strength to lift and carry boxes of materials weighing up to 40 pounds.

b. Ability to drive for long periods of time as necessary.

c. Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for market activity and events.

 

Non-Physical Demands/Qualifications

a. Minimum 5 years’ wholesale, supplier or beverage industry experience preferred.

b. Strong relationship building skills.

c. Demonstrated ability to achieve goals and deadlines.

d. Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects.

e. Good understanding of importer/distributor ways of working.

f. Successful track record of working within the industry, as well as generating a continuous drive towards excellence, quality and service

g. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.  Must provide a DMV printout.

h. College degree desired.  Proficient use with personal computer and applicable software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet Research, Microsoft Outlook.)

i. Ability to demonstrate integrity and good business judgment.

j. Ideal candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, passionate, self-motivated and be a strong team player.
