SOPEXA is looking to hire a full-time SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER for its Toronto office.

Sopexa is an international food, beverage & lifestyle communications agency implementing 360° marketing campaigns for brands and collective organizations. With in-depth knowledge of the global food and wine industry, we advise and assist clients in developing their business in Canada and overseas while championing them to set food & drink trends and shape those of tomorrow. We have offices in 24 countries, are 220+ employees strong and we are a part of the Hopscotch Groupe, headquartered in Paris.
The Sopexa team in Canada has managed brand strategy, PR, digital, social and influencers, event management, trade marketing, shopper marketing and retailer partnership programs in-house for over 20 clients in the food and beverage industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the execution of projects, marketing actions and/or events defined by Account Managers and Clients ;
- Autonomously oversee the implementation of marketing strategies and 360-degree action plans based on leveraging experience and your own network of vendors and or freelancers in order to see projects through ;
- Participate in the development of the client portfolio and in the strengthening of existing client relationships through planning and resource management and by offering solutions to project challenges ;
- Stay true to the profitability objectives of campaigns set out by management.
Project Management
- Support the Account Management team across their account portfolio and programs ;
- Act as the lead contact person on projects, events and action plans ;
- Be the internal champion for the project, budget and brief ;
- Build quarterly and annual KPI reports for campaigns ;
- Coordinate teams around projects and their successful execution ;
- Contribute to projects' internal financial management and profitability margin management.
Business Development
- Work towards developing business with existing clients by presenting ideas and solutions to expand relationships ;
- Stay abreast of trends and newsworthy information that could be valuable to clients, for the success of marketing programs, and for potential opportunities with existing clients ;
- Support responses to RFPs by fostering a collaborative process with the agency’s varied experts and leverage its offering to maximize the agency’s chances of winning open tenders ;
- Conceive and successfully pitch the execution of programs in writing or verbally ;
- Participate in the drafting of parameters and in negotiating vendor contracts to maximize costs and opportunities.
Production
- Activate client's marketing plans ;
- Work with Account Managers to secure quote signatures at the start of projects ;
- Manage suppliers in executing plans, overseeing budgets and respecting budgets and the agency’s gross margins ;
- Adhere to reporting structures put in place by both the group and client contracts ;
- Able to tap into your own network for resources as needed to complement the agency’s network.
Budget Management
- Build budgets in conjunction with marketing plans in order to optimize costs and gross margins while respecting guidelines provided by management ;
- During execution, manage budgets that cover actions of different types (digital, events, media partnerships, etc.) and regularly report on costs and margins, staying as true as possible to the established budget while proactively flagging any potential issues ;
- Proactively propose measures and solutions to resolve problems that arise during the activation of the plan.
DESIRED PROFILE
- Proficiency in both English and French
- 4+ years in a project management role, preferably at a marketing agency
- Strategic and analytical skills in order to accompany internal and external stakeholders as they build marketing programs
- Experience in different marketing channels including digital and traditional, with media, event and PR exposure
- Overall knowledge of the Canadian food & wine market and consumer trends
- Experience with and skilled in negotiations with partners and suppliers
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to handle multiple campaigns and regular reporting
- Experience with building budgets
- Communication skills necessary to coordinate multiple channels, stakeholders, and processes
- Understanding of project management and experience with project management tools
- Strong writing skills and ability to clearly communicate issues and reports to stakeholders
- An existing network of professionals in the field to strengthen the agency’s vendor offering
- Interest in the food and beverage industries; foodies and wine enthusiasts are encouraged
- Good interpersonal and presentation skills
- Comfortable working under pressure
- Able to take initiative
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada and/or hold a permanent working permit
This role is work from home for now. Competitive compensation package offered.
