The Roost Wine Company is looking for a seasonal Tasting Room Manager to expand our tasting room team near Collingwood, Ontario. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in sales, restaurants, bars and/or customer service.
This positions is offered on a seasonal contract from mid-April to end-October, usually within a Wednesday to Sunday opening schedule. Weekend work will be essential.
TASTING ROOM MANAGER
The Tasting Room Manager is accountable for managing and supervising all aspects of tasting room operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Sales & Marketing
- Evaluating, developing and implementing concepts and programs for the Tasting Room, Winery and Event Space in cooperation with the Directors;
- Understanding, implementing and representing brand development;
- Implementing wine tasting standards in cooperation with Winemaker
- Conducting of wine tastings and vineyard tours for VIP guests
- Participate in the development of marketing ideas and objectives in cooperation with Directors;
- Supporting the planning and managing of events as required
Operations
- Daily operating processes – opening/closing, POS
- Ensure maintenance & cleaning is done properly
- Stocktaking and ordering of Tasting Room retail items and tasting room supplies
- Ensuring customer materials such as menus and signs are clear, current and accurate
- Monitoring food cost and inventory management
- Completing quality control in all aspects of Tasting Room and Event operation
- Ensuring excellent food service standards are met
- Ensuring licensee and online orders are fulfilled as needed;
- Administration of promotions within the tasting room and local product partners
Customer Service
- Uphold excellent customer service standards
- Meet and greet customers, answer questions and inquiries;
- Resolving guest concerns and complaints by using good judgment and professionalism
- Respond to customer queries, inquiries and reviews through email, social media and by phone
Health & Safety
- Supervising kitchen cleanliness, maintenance, health and safety standards and operating events;
- Ensure all safety, laws, and regulations are followed related to alcohol service and operations of the tasting room and event space
Supervise Tasting Room staff
- Manage performance of tasting room staff, including supervisors and servers.
- Conflict resolution between staff members.
- Training new staff. Provide feedback and coach as needed.
- Ensure all staff have required certificates and licenses.
- Scheduling of Tasting Room staff
Qualifications
- 3 – 5 years experience in the hospitality sector or wine industry, with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity
- Strong problem solving, communication, customer service and sales skills
- SmartServe, First Aid and CPR certified
