We are a small Winery/Cidery located in the Town of the Blue Mountains, Ontario. On average we process 40-45 tonnes of grapes sourced from our own 17 acre vineyards + purchased from other area vineyards as well as from Niagara. We also make Ardiel Cider, which is three sku's of cider, two of which are in the LCBO. Annual cider production is approximately 200,000L. As the Wine & Cider Maker you will be our primary production staff from December-August with an additional staff member brought on for harvest. Duties include but are not limited to;
- Oversee & execute all aspects of Wine & Cider production
-Monitor fermentations, additions, clarifying, filtering, blending, canning/bottling prep
-Maintain winery cleanliness, cleaning tanks/equipment/floors etc
-Book apple pressings, coordinate canning dates, order supplies, book bulk transportation
-Choosing barrels, cleaning barrels, filling barrels
-Lab checks & monitoring bulk inventory; alcohol/TA/pH/S02
-Vineyard sampling, deciding when to harvest
-Ability to life 25kg
-Able to work long hours during & weekends during harvest or other peak production times
-Supervise & give direction/training to additional harvest labour (usually 1 other person)
-Communication skills
-Inventory Management
-Record keeping, Government reporting, LCBO audit
-Work with consulting winemaker on Wild ferment projects (consultant does not advise on other wine or cider projects)
-Report to business Owners
-Participate in Winery tasting events onsite & offsite
-Ability to work by yourself, self motivated, time management
-Microsoft office
-Forklift experience an asset
-Must have own transportation as we are a rural setting
salary $45,000-$55,000 to be determined by education & experience.
