We are seeking a driven, professional and passionate Sales and Marketing Manager for a full-time position based out of our office on West Georgia in Vancouver and covering the Lower Mainland with occasional travel to Whistler, Vancouver Island and regular travel to the Okanagan.
The position will manage all aspects of sales and marketing activities for our new winery called TerraLux. This is a major new winery being built almost opposite Quails Gate in WestBank close to Kelowna. The winery is under construction and will be one of the iconic wineries of the Okanagan. It opens next year. Wine has been produced over the last 4 years and is ready for sale. Our team is led by James Cluer MW who assisted with starting the business, buying over 200 acres of vineyard, and designing this landmark winery, plus Marcus Ansems MW who has been Consultant Winemaker, and Geoff Moss MW in Consultant on Marketing.
We are seeking a top notch Sales and Marketing Professional who can develop all aspects of sales and marketing for our luxury brand TerraLux and our sister winery S’Milka Vista. You must be connected with buyers in on-premise accounts and retail, have a track record of building brands and making sales, be familiar with agencies with whom you will assist signing and then managing, and you must be a knowledgeable wine professional. We are looking for a long term commitment.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and skill set.
Primary Responsibilities
Sales:
- Establish a sales program including hiring an agent to represent the winery and then working with that agency’s sales reps.
- Maximize volume sales and product placement for all brands
- Conduct sales meetings and product presentations to establish LRS and Licensee accounts
- Seek and build new business opportunities in all trade channels
- Drive sales with on site calls to trade channels
- Call accounts, enter orders and invoice customers
- Call on key accounts in designated territory/region and work with sales management to develop overall sales strategies
- Create and build positive relationships with clients
- Consult with clients after sale to provide ongoing support by maintaining all active accounts
- Help develop LTO schedule
- Analyze sales-related statistics to strategically build territory
- Analyze and control expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements
- Create sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion
- Collaborate with key accounts in a geographic region to improve the distribution of products within set accounts
- Monitor and report warehouse inventory levels
- Manage the wine clubs
- Manage communication with all club members
- Manage and coordinate club shipments
- Assist in planning and coordinating the club pickup events
- Provide wine club reporting
- Assist in creating club membership targets
- Take a leadership role in driving new membership
- Establish good relationships with all accounts
Marketing:
- Develop email marketing schedule
- Create email newsletters in Wine Direct/Mail Chimp
- Create content for social medial accounts
- Develop, procure and distribute sales and marketing collateral
- Assist with tradeshows, events, and festivals
- Organize and participate in trade marketing events to support portfolio and build brand loyalty
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have WSET Level 3 or higher.
- Must have a significant existing network of clients in retail and on-premise.
- Must have a minimum 8 years of sales/marketing experience in the Wine & Spirits industry industry
- Able to coordinate and conduct wine tastings and events
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experienced with all social media platforms and email marketing campaign software
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, Graphic editing, and Marketing
- Highly organized, goal and detail-oriented with superior relationship building skills
- An expert in customer service
- Conducting sales calls to both potential new and existing clientele, with great follow up skills
- Self-starter with a strong desire to learn and develop as a sales professional
- Works well independently or in a team environment while remaining self-motivated and driven
- Must possess valid BC Driver's License, reliable vehicle and Canadian passport
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 40 lb(20kg) cases regularly
- Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or mobile device - Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping - May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
- Flexibility to travel and attend weekend or evening events
