Liquor Store Manager
Position Overview
The Liquor Store Manager is responsible for guiding the team to create a high performing work environment that maximizes sales, controls costs through inventory management, effective resource planning and inventory control, and ensures all team members maintain a high level of customer focus.
Ownership of this downtown Vancouver store holds multi-unit stores and is seeking an individual who is interested in growth opportunities within the organization, and can manage a high volume store.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervision of team, including, supporting the delivery of excellent customer service by
all, developing teamwork within the store and creating a positive work environment
Training team members, ongoing coaching/ mentoring, scheduling team members and ensuring all store policies and procedures are followed
Performance management for existing team members and recruitment of new on members as needed basis
Leading regular team meetings and addressing employee questions and concerns as they arise
Manage store Health & Safety policy and ensure all required procedures are followed
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Controlling stock levels, stock variance, quarterly inventory counts along with daily spot checks and ensuring acceptable levels of security in the store for team members and physical assets
Liaising with sales representatives to decide on new sku, marketing and promotions
Professionally communicate with inspectors and other provincial authorities as required
Carrying out all day-to-day tasks to support the successful operation of the store
Computation of staff hours, labour budgets and submissions to control for payroll
Delegating tasks to the Assistant Manager and team members as required
Stay up to date on current product specifications and ensure any new product information is communicated to the team
Ensure current product promotions are properly displayed and merchandized
Manage inventory orders, control process (including counts) and repacking SKUs
Check customers identification to confirm it meets legal age and ensure this policy is followed by all team members as well as reviewing ID’ing practices weekly with team
Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
Promptly address customer service issues
Document incidents in Incident Log on an as needed basis and ensure this policy is followed by all team members
Qualifications and Skills
5+ years working in a retail environment
2+ years in a management/leadership role, with proven experience in the areas of training, scheduling and performance management
Post-secondary education, including any course work related to business, sales,
leadership, finance or HR would be considered an asset
WSET and/or Cicerone training will be viewed as an asset
Working knowledge of Barnet POS and back-office liquor store computer programs for duties such as generating and receiving orders and adjusting inventory within the system
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, including MS Word and Excel
Be at least 19 years of age
Be legally eligible to work in Canada
Be able to communicate effectively and professionally with the public
Be able to speak, read and write English fluently; knowledge of a second language is an asset
Be able to provide excellent customer service and positive customer interactions
Be able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 20-25 kg boxes
Be able to demonstrate aptitude for cash handling duties, including calculations, safe balances, floats, petty cash and deposits
Have a valid Serving It Right Certificate (BC)
In addition to daytime shifts, be available if required for evenings, weekends and holidays; hours of work may vary each week; standard operating hours are 9:00am – 11:00pm
