The Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Sales Manager who will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies across BC and Alberta, managing key accounts, mentoring a growing sales team, and nurturing long-term relationships within the industry.
You bring a strong mix of commercial insight, sales leadership, and interpersonal skills - equally confident in data analysis, account strategy, and relationship building. You’ll have a deep understanding of the market landscape and an established network of trade relationships, particularly in the premium on-premise and boutique retail channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the sales team across British Columbia and Alberta, ensuring alignment with company growth targets and supplier objectives.
- Build and strengthen relationships with key accounts; to drive premium visibility and sustained performance.
- Guide, coach, and support a small but growing team of sales professionals; foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
- Lead by example in the field, setting a high standard of professionalism, product knowledge, and customer engagement.
- Support the sales team at events, tastings, and activations, helping to maximize impact and deepen client relationships.
- Use data and insights - including tools like EZ Focus - to drive territory strategy, identify opportunities, and optimize execution.
- Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to build pouring schedules, support inventory planning, brand programming, and supplier communication.
- Help manage samples and internal inventory, ensuring efficient usage aligned with sales priorities.
- Present and draw insights from sales reports to the sales team and management. Cultivate and maintain private client relationships where relevant, offering tailored support and access to exclusive offerings.
- Represent the agency and its producers at key industry events and tastings; act as a knowledgeable, professional ambassador for the portfolio.
- Provide timely, thoughtful feedback on market performance, competitor activity, and emerging trends.
What You Bring
- Minimum 5 years of experience in wine sales, with at least 2 years in a leadership or key account role.
- Deep knowledge of the BC and Alberta wine markets, including pricing structures, regulations, and market dynamics.
- An established network of industry contacts in both provinces, especially in the on-premise and fine wine retail space.
- Strong analytical skills - comfortable with sales reports, forecasts, and margin analysis.
- High emotional intelligence and proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate sales talent.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Passion for premium wine and the ability to speak credibly about global wine regions, producers, and trends.
- In-depth wine knowledge is essential - preferably WSET Level 3 certified or above.
- French, Italian, or Spanish language ability is a plus.
