Artisan Wine Shop, based in Victoria, British Columbia, provides a unique product offering like no other. Based in the heart of downtown Victoria, just off Government Street, our Assistant Retail Manager plays an essential role in carrying through the in-store experience sharing the stories of our wines with our guests through engaging conversation, tastings, and sales hosted by our Retail Associates.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Retail Manager to join our team’s driven, innovative, and wine-focused culture. The Assistant Retail Manager is responsible for many facets of the Wine Shop, playing a key role in driving operational excellence, employee engagement, inventory management, retail merchandising, and customer experience.
As the ideal candidate, you are always anticipating the customer’s needs and envisioning what’s possible. You juggle the responsibilities of team collaboration, positive culture leadership, and incredible customer experience. You are one of the primary sales persons and are proficient in connecting with customers to create repeat clientele. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to work both independently and in a team setting. You live and breathe customer experience.

You will be responsible for helping with the execution of all aspects including health and safety in the workplace, recruitment, training, engagement and maintaining a positive working atmosphere in the store.
A Day in the Life of our Assistant Retail Manager:
Sales Responsibilities
- Help with the planning, implementing and tracking of seasonal events and in store promotions.
- Lead by example and collaborate with retail sales team to achieve and exceed top line sales budget.
- Help achieve and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly team sales targets for Company Brand Wines.
- Assist in attaining and exceed all retail KPI’s and increase traffic.
- Educate staff and consumers on company wines and wine accessories.
Leadership and Team Responsibilities
- Assist in delegating duties to ensure timely completion of all daily tasks.
- Attract and help Onboard new team members according to Artisan Wine Shop standards.
- Contribute to and help build staff morale.
Administrative/Budgeting Tasks
- Prepare weekly sales summaries to track store performance and present at weekly manager’s meetings.
- Inventory control including timely and accurate receiving of products and processing write offs.
- Help manage day-to-day operation of the store.
- Ensure and take an active role in proper storage and merchandising of stock.
What We're Looking For:
- 3-5 years of retail experience
- Leadership experience an asset
- Strong Retail background.
- F&B knowledge an asset.
- Demonstrated self drive and the ability to work independently.
- Strongly motivated with ability to achieve sales targets.
- Passionate in providing exceptional customer service.
- Flexible hours and able to work an irregular schedule.
- Able to Multi Task and work efficiently.
- Formal Wine Knowledge training an asset but not required.
$18 - $20/hr
