Who are we looking for?
Reporting to Cascadia’s leadership the Educator has the overall responsibility and accountability for Cascadia’s educational content. The Educator will work closely with Cascadia’s leadership team to ensure each employee receives sufficient training to uphold Cascadia’s standards of extensive product knowledge, sales, education, and guest experience. Through both internal and external courses, the Educator will execute monthly, quarterly, and annual education initiatives that continue to develop our team and help our company grow. The goal for the Educator is to continue to elevate the knowledge and skill set of all Cascadia employees to uphold the high level of service Cascadia is known for.
What you will do
- Provide oversight of all educational content and initiatives
- Identify training needs and translate into trainings sessions that will give team members the tools to effectively engage our guests at an elevated level
- Build annual training programs and prepare teaching plans
- Prepare educational modules for employee onboarding and conduct orientation education sessions
- Development of educational handouts, instructional materials, aids, and manuals
- Direct structured learning experiences such as product tastings and seminars and monitor their results
- Provide general managers with in-store education tools and information
- Assess training effectiveness to ensure the incorporation of trained skills and techniques into team member behavior
- Periodically evaluate ongoing programs to ensure that they reflect any changes in our industry
- Stay abreast of the new trends and tools in the industry
- Develop and maintain wine education and assessment materials in collaboration with Cascadia’s leadership
- Work with external educational partners on staff product certifications
- Creation of educational blog and article content
- Administrative support as required
What you will bring
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in liquor retail, hospitality management or in an education position
- WSET Diploma or equivalent required
- Certified Cicerone and Spirits Certification an asset
- Strong training skills with the ability to understand and adjust based on your audience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Serving it Right certification required
- Strong skills in MS Office and retail POS systems (Globaltill)
