The Opportunity: Wine & Spirit Specialist
Job Purpose: As part of an engaged and service-focused team, the Wine & Spirit Specialist assists in driving wine and spirit sales initiatives by creating valued relationships and loyalty with guests. You have a passion for wine and sharing your knowledge with both team members and guests who visit our store and tasting bar, all the while providing a positive and elevated experience. You provide exemplary customer service, uphold the highest standards of organization and cleanliness, bring a team-oriented and positive attitude to work each day, and apply our core values in everything you do.
Position Details: Permanent, Full-Time. Working hours will generally occur from Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. The hours of work may vary and may be irregular and will be those hours necessary to meet the requirements of the job.

Key Responsibilities
· Acquiring, cultivating, fostering, and maintaining relationships with loyal and high potential guests and partners; creating elevated guest experiences
· Organizing and managing an elevated tasting bar program and experience for our guests, including masterclasses, premium tastings, consultations, and events
· Assisting the General Manager with managing wine and sprits inventory
· Working with the Buyer and Assistant Buyer in selecting Cellar wines and spirits
· Working with the Operations Manager and Regional Manager to develop an omnichannel approach and wine expertise to grow wine sales across all channels
· Ensuring wine and high-end spirits are stocked and that an extensive selection is available
· Attending industry wine events to keep up with current trends and vintage releases
· Assisting the General Manager with staff training and product knowledge
· Assisting with all aspects of liquor retail including cash, customer service, stocking shelves, breaking down orders and putting away orders
· Being part of a team of high achievers who care about the customers and the company they are representing
· Solving problems with a patient, level-headed and cool under pressure approach
· Bringing your positive, collaborative, and hardworking attitude to work each day
· Other special projects and duties as required
Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications
· Minimum 5 years of experience in a wine-focused role in a hospitality / liquor retail environment (including previous experience as a Sommelier, Wine Manager, or Buyer)
· A warm, confident, and customer-focused personality with a high-level attention to detail
· A passion for, and formal training in, wine (minimum WSET Level 3 or equivalent is required. WSET Diploma or ISG Sommelier Diploma are considered a strong asset)
· Experience sharing knowledge and designing / delivering structured wine seminars
· The ability to lift 25 kg repeatedly and stay physically active throughout shift
· Serving It Right certification (and must be at least 19 years of age)
· Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
Successful applicants must be fully vaccinated (defined as 14 days having elapsed since receipt of a second dose of one of the COVID-19 vaccines approved for use in Canada and compliance with any other related public health order, recommendations or guidelines respecting vaccination) and show proof of vaccination as a condition of employment and prior to starting work.
