Retail Manager

Key Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of the retail wine shop including:
- Providing leadership to retail sales associates and support staff
- Creating and maintaining an exceptional customer experience
- Motivating and encouraging exceptional customer service from retail staff
- Recruiting and training of new staff
- Creating and implementing new hire training manual
- Driving sales and Wine Club membership recruitment
- Setting weekly retail sales targets
- Setting yearly sales targets with Director
- Tracking individual sales and team sales as part of rewards program
- Manage retail schedule, planning for high / low time staff requirements, time off requests, labour hours, events, etc.
- Conduct staff performance reviews with Director
- Oversee the scheduling, coordination and execution of tour and tastings
- Maintain consistent communication with retail staff regarding products, events, etc.
- Manage merchandise inventory and procurement
- Maintain POS system including updates and troubleshooting
- Managing onsite wine inventory (weekly wine order, etc.)
- Managing the Wine Garden including staffing, set up and tear down, liaising with musicians, etc.
- Customer correspondence via phone or email
Other Duties include:
- Execution of winery passport programs
- Assist Director in the planning of winery events
- Assist with Wine Club events
- Coordinate staffing for all events
- Ensuring all retail spaces are well maintained and that all aspects are safe and in working condition
Position Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years Retail Management experience, preferably in the wine industry
- Advanced wine knowledge, WSET 3 or equivalent certification
- Smart Serve Certified
- Willing to work weekends, holidays and some evenings
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Ability to lift cases of wine (30 lbs.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Familiarity with QuickBooks an asset
- Food Handlers Certification an asset
This is a full-time salaried position based on experience, with the option of a benefit package at the end of a 3-month probationary period.
