Wine Educator/Wine Steward 

Starting: May 2022 

Hours: Part-time to Full-time, weekends required 

Pay: $17-18 

 

Do you love wine and food, new experiences and sharing that passion with others? Stoney Ridge Estate Winery is looking to add to our growing team of wine lovers for the upcoming 2022 season. Our Wine Educator will be responsible for conducting fun and educational private wine tasting experiences with authentic and enthusiastic hospitality as an ambassador of the Stoney Ridge brand. This teammate will be accountable for: 

  • Welcoming guests and consistently providing an exceptional experience that is educational and fun 
  • Achieves/exceeds assigned Wine Club membership targets 
  • Maximizes revenues per guest transaction (including upselling) via a solid understanding of: 
  • Wines/cheeses / accessories / experiences / Wine Club membership benefits / events 
  • Facilitates guided tasting experiences for guests 
  • Assists with processing guest sales (via POS system) and with Guest Relations bookings/reservations (via internal reservations systems) when required 
  • Understands and adheres to retail inventory control procedures (receiving, ordering, promotions, stocking, experience writeoffs); participates in monthly retail inventory process 
  • Follows safe work procedures/practices; reports any unsafe working conditions/hazards to assigned Manager on Duty 
  • Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the store product/tour route/experience locations at all times 

We are looking for a teammate with: 

  • Passion about the Niagara Wine Industry and/or willingness to learn 
  • Outgoing personality, engaging and positive attitude 
  • Postsecondary wine /spirits education an asset 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while multi-tasking successfully 
  • Demonstrated Guest/Customer service excellence focus 
  • Experience working with computer-based point of sale systems and handling cash an asset 
  • Smart Serve Certification 
  • Safe Food Handling Certification is an asset 
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated skills of tact and diplomacy when dealing with a diverse group of wine enthusiasts and visitors 
  • Possesses a team player mentality and drive to succeed 
  • Availability to work weekends
