Assistant Tasting Room Manager (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Frind Estate Winery is a quintessential stop on any wine tour of the Okanagan Valley.  It boasts a breathtaking lakefront location situated on the historic Bennett Family Property in West Kelowna. Family owned and operated, Frind Estate Winery is producing premium and super premium wines truly reflective of the vineyards, the varietals and the vintage.

We are seeking an Assistant Tasting Room Manager to join our team. This full-time, salaried position will be based in the winery in West Kelowna. Reporting to the Tasting Room Manager, this role is responsible for the total customer experience in the Frind Winery Tasting Room, delivering on the sales and club acquisition goals while providing best-in-class service.

          Main Duties will include:

 

• Managing and coordinating all daily consumer activities on the property, including guest services, tasting room events and elevated experiences and tastings

• Driving wine sales and club acquisition results

• Provide on-the floor hospitality, ensuring that all guests have an exceptional experience

• Assisting in assembling a high-performance staff and provide training and motivation required to drive success

• Assisting with scheduling and inventory management

• Assist in managing the team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring FWE hospitality policies and procedures are met

• Setting high standards and holding staff accountable to those standards

• Acting as manager-on-duty when Tasting Room Manager is not present

• Assisting with special events as required

• Ensure the tasting room is always in pristine condition

 

The Qualifications:

 

• Completion of WSET Level 2, or equivalent

• Minimum of 2-4 years progressive wine industry experience, with supervisory retail experience

• Proven people management skills that foster a team environment

• Capable of performing moderate physical activities including standing, walking, climbing, reaching and carrying. Requires lifting and moving objects up to 40 lbs. in weight
