Cellar Hand
Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for a detail oriented, career driven, team player who is self-motivated and goal focused to fill the position of Cellar Hand
-
Coordinate, execute, and monitor all aspects of cellar activities – with a strong emphasis on attention to detail.

Ferment management (temperature control, inoculation, cap management, monitoring nutrient status, punch downs and pump overs);

Identifying and reducing potential microbial issues – grapes, must, and bulk wine
-
Grape processing, fermentations, pressings, racking, transfers, blending, topping, wine aging, wine treatments, bottling, barrel maintenance and sanitation;

Operating press, destemmer, punch down systems, pump over systems, barrel washer, ozone machine, pumps, heating & cooling systems,

Assist in monitoring of the qualitative and analytical states of all wines.

Ensure presentation, organization and sanitation of the cellars is always of the highest standard.

Assist with bottling (as required) –labour requirements, finished goods shipping, production records and any other related details.

Ensure all documentation and relevant records are completed and returned to supervisor in a timely fashion

Follow all safety procedures as directed by standard operating procedures

Work order completion and compliance.

Safe operation of cellar forklift and other winery equipment (training provided)

Inventory control.
Must haves:
-
University degree in Oenology/Winemaking or applicable Science Related Field (preferred); Diploma in Oenology/Winemaking or applicable Science Related field (minimum requirement or years of experience) would be an asset.

Minimum of 2 harvest experiences

Experience processing grapes
-
Proficient in operation of all production equipment.

Must have complete knowledge of the operation and correct application of cellar equipment.

Valid driver’s license.
-
Forklift driving experience (fruit processing, loading/unloading flatbed trucks and barrel stacking).

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time.

Strong computer literacy experienced with MS Office and the ability to learn

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must be able to lift and carry 25 kg

Team work and customer service skills

Ability to work shift work including weekends
-
Ability to be trained in confined space entry process and procedures
