After the successful sale of plentyoffish.com, Markus is focusing his efforts on pairing technology with agriculture to produce terroir-driven British Columbia wines of exceptional quality.
We are hiring seasoanl CELLAR HANDS based in West Kelowna, BC to join the Frind Team. There is opportunity for this role to become permanent.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Operating all equipment used in the processing of grapes, juice, and wine
· General cellar duties, including racking, inoculations, and filtering.
· Making additions to juice and wine, as well as transferring wine volumes using a variety of pumps, hoses and flow meters.
· Performing red wine fermentation cap management techniques such as pump overs and punch downs.
· Following written and/or oral procedures and policies, and reporting any problems with following the work order instructions.
· Barrel work, including preparing barrels, filling and racking wine from barrel.
· Cleaning and sanitation of tanks, barrels, processing equipment, and the production facility.
· Basic understanding of winemaking equipment such as pumps, destemmers, presses, filters, forklifts.
· Assisting in bottling operations.
· Collecting samples
· Maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy work environment, and adhering to current WorkSafe best practices and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Previous harvest experiences an asset.
· Drivers License considered an asset.
· Forklift driving certification considered an asset.
· Cellar work experience preferred
· Ability to multi-task, work independently and work well with a team, with the emphasis being on accuracy and timeliness.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Ability to work 6 days a week, when needed, during Harvest.
· Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
