We are hiring a CELLAR MASTER based in West Kelowna, to join the Frind Team.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Assisting in and supervising daily winery operations.

·         Clear understanding of cellar sanitation, work order priority, cellar efficiency and have the ability to successfully complete many tasks simultaneously.

·         Performing lab analysis and lab administration.

·         Manage the workflow in the cellars ensuring all work meets our quality and Health & Safety standards.

·         Supervise inventories of Cellar equipment, materials, and supplies.

·         Carry out specialized functions in the cellar during harvest, including, but not limited to the following: additions to fermenting barrels and tanks, barrel racking.

·         Interpreting tested data from wines.

·         Tasting with confidence and ability to describe a wine and recognize wine faults.

·         Supervise and lead in the coordination of grape receival and processing during harvest.

·         Maintaining and repairing cellar equipment as required.

·         Work closely with the Winemakers to improve and develop SOPs where needed.

·         Execute the winery’s Eco-cert (organic) and HACCP programs.

·         Conduct annual performance reviews for the cellar team.

·         Ability to adapt to new ways of technology for winemaking.

·         Ongoing training, leadership, and mentorship for the cellar team.

·         Oversee routine daily tank and equipment cleaning.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Post secondary education in Oenology/Winemaking or science degree.

·         3-5 years experience in winemaking. International experience is an asset.

·         Experience with HAACP and or organic winemaking an asset.

·         Advanced computer skills in MS Office Suite, Relational Databases and web based systems.

·         Leadership experience in a winery or other Food and Beverage operations.

·         Forklift Experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

·         Lifting Heavy (>50 lbs)

·         Work on their feet for long periods of time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
