We are growing and looking for a Cost Accountant to join our Frind Team.

The Cost Accountant is responsible for winery cost accounting and inventory control procedures. This position is responsible for calculating, maintaining, and updating costing for wine, food and beverage inventory, providing financial analysis, developing and implementing inventory control policies and procedures, and assisting with month-end closing and reporting. 

Job Duties 

Cost Accounting:

·         Work closely with a variety of departments throughout the organization, including accounting, finance, production, vineyard, and restaurant to ensure expense components of wine costing are properly identified, understood, and recorded in a timely and accurate manner.

·         Develop strong knowledge of systems (Agcode, Vintrace) to develop integrated costing processes.

·         Develop and maintain costing for bulk wine, wine by SKU, food, and beverage.

·         Assist with month end close and financial reporting associated with inventory (raw materials, wine finished goods, food, and beverage) and cost of goods sold. 

·         Assist with budgeting, planning and financial analysis associated with cost of goods sold, inventory and related costs (e.g., shrinkage by sku, margin by sku). 

·         Document procedures associated with the organizations cost accounting function. 

·         Make recommendations to improve or streamline processes, identify risks, and cost savings opportunities.

 

Inventory Control:

·         Coordinates monthly physical inventory counts of wine finished goods, raw materials, and food inventory (count performed by others).  Investigates count differences.

·         Conducts independent inventory count audits.

·         Develop and maintain inventory tracking systems; work with other key staff to ensure inventory transactions are processed timely and accurately.

·         Ensures that the inventory is physically controlled and maintained in accordance with company policy and procedures.

·         Liaises and works closely with functional groups to resolve inventory issues.

Requirements

·         Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required

·         CPA, CA or CMA preferred

·         Minimum of 3 years’ experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment and inventory control experience

·         Experience in the wine industry is preferred.

·         Strong understanding of cost accounting theory and GAAP required.

·         Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the company.

·         Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.

·         Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment

·         Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
