What We’re Looking For:
As our Cost Accountant you will be the primary business partner and P&L owner for our winemaking and manufacturing teams across seven wineries. This role will work closely with our winemakers to help them manage their annual performance against budget, measure, and report on the financial impacts of winemaking activities and play a significant role in finished goods costing. Other responsibilities include participating in the month-end close activities, supporting the annual budgeting process, and overseeing on ad-hoc financial analysis related to production activities. A successful candidate will be equally comfortable working through challenging analytics as they are in building relationships with business partners across the organization.
What You’ll Do:
- Key duties in wine product costing
- Support for Finance team on regular budgeting, reporting and analytical tasks
- Analyze general ledger accounts for the wine production operations
- Prepare and review of Production Cost reports, and manufacturing variances
- Prepare quarterly Cost of Goods forecasts in collaboration with the S&OP process (looking out 24mths)
- Perform month-end processes and prepare monthly working papers and reconciliations of specific production accounts
- Review inventory and provision balances against targets and reconcile monthly inventory reports
- Assist in annual budget preparation for wine production operations
- Assist in monthly and year-end management/audit queries
- Maintain procedural documentation as appropriate
- Participate in winery efficiency initiatives
- Ad-hoc projects as required
What You Have:
- 3+ years progressive experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor of Commerce Degree (or related qualifications)
- Experience with ERP systems
- An organized and analytical accountant with genuine attention to detail
- A team player who is eager to learn and able to switch gears and work on multiple priorities
- Advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and the ability to connect the dots and follow data flow in various financial information systems.
- Outcome focused individual
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
- Experience partnering and collaborating with a varied group of stakeholders
- Ability to communicate data clearly and able train managers to better understand their financials
Nice to have but not mandatory:
- CPA or actively working towards a CPA designation
- Familiarity with BI reporting tools like Qlikview, Oracle BI, Cognos,
- Experience with a producer/distributor of beverage products
