Our Wine Shop is home to our tasting bar and gift boutique, which offer a stunning view of Okanagan Lake and the Quails’ Gate Vineyards and offers a premium selection of our award-winning wines, wine accessories and other unique gift items. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff provide guests with information about our products and also conduct tours and tastings to give visitors a hands-on understanding of our vineyard and winery operations.
We are seeking a Full-time Tasting Room Manager to lead the retail team and be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the tasting room and guest experience including tour and tasting offerings. This position plays a vital role in training new employees, responding to and resolving customer inquiries/complaints, and requires excellent customer service skills, retail knowledge, administrative skills and a passion for wine. The responsibilities of this position will include:
- Understand and adhere to budgets: achieve monthly, quarterly and annual tasting room sales objectives for guest traffic and customer acquisition, wine sales, wine club enrollments and positive guest feedback; control inventory, labour, expenses and cash management, ensure best product/services are received and at the best possible price; ability to be creative and flexible to adjust programs in order to achieve goals
- Executing the strategic plan and meeting KPI’s
- Accountability for executing all tasting room operations including opening/closing procedures, inventory (order, stock, and maintain all inventory), maintain a friendly, warm and clean tasting room environment inside and outside at all times
- Assist tasting room staff in their duties when needed; work in tasting room alongside team; host visitors and model the behavior that is expected from tasting room staff; other duties as necessary to be an active team member, doing what is necessary to help the business run smoothly and efficiently
- Ability to create and maintain a fast paced, gracious and highly productive team ‘culture’ that is focused on making the guest experience the best it can possibly be, every time
- Ensuring adherence to safety and employee performance according to company policies and procedures
The ideal candidate will possess natural leadership abilities, will work well under high-pressure situations, have the ability to multi-task, take initiative and be decisive, and have a positive, outgoing and approachable personality. Applicants should have a minimum of 10 years retail or hospitality experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. We are looking for a proven track record of success and the ability to ensure a smooth-running operation that maximizes sales while managing costs and motivating staff as a competent leader to ensure profitability through teamwork. In addition, the candidate must have:
- Advanced wine knowledge, WSET or ISG Level 2, or a combination of formal and direct-experience may be considered
- Previous supervisory experience in a luxury goods environment,
- Serving it Right certificate
- Diploma or degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Commerce or related, an asset
- Knowledgeable with computer programs, such as Word, Excel and email
